About the Event

co-sponsored with nalanda institute for contemplative science

This evening talk with Nalanda Institute Director Joe Loizzo and Elazar Aslan will focus on a Buddhist approach to work and how to apply it. It begins with the contemplative insight that our power comes not from our control over others or external events, but rather from our control over our reactive minds. While current research has shown the efficacy of mindfulness, compassion and inclusion in the workplace, our professional training and bottom line mindset is driven by self-limiting struggles for security, power and advancement based on the myth that success is a war of all-against-all in which only the most competitive win scarce resources. By sharpening our awareness of what is really going on, strengthening our mind's ability to supervise our own hindrances, and increasing our capacity to authentically support others, we change the dynamics of a relationship, team or organization enough so that we can work less, get more done, and feel more fulfilled.
