About the Event

Grounded in the insights of the four noble truths and the practice of mindfulness meditation, the second class of Nalanda’s Four Year Program delves further into Contemplative Psychology and its theories and practices of self-healing. Drawing upon an interdisciplinary framework of ancient Buddhist psychology (abhidharma) and modern Interpersonal Neurobiology, the class explores how the mind, brain and nervous system function to create states of distress and ease. By understanding the mechanism of perception, emotional regulation, self-construction and neural integration, and by training in deep mindfulness, loving-kindness and analytic insight meditations, participants will learn to balance the brain and transform the mind.  The course culminates with a Saturday retreat “Selfless Integration: Arts of Transforming Mind and Brain”.
