A teaching based on Shantideva’s text, The Way of the Bodhisattva
Do you ever find yourself lost in distraction, pulled in myriad directions? In this weekend teaching, Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo will explore a classic Tibetan Buddhist text on vigilance or mindfulness in daily life. In the fifth chapter of the Bodhicaryavatara (The Way of the Bodhisattva), Shantideva expounds on the importance of cultivating the qualities of mindfulness and awareness, since the mind is the source of all suffering – and offers practical advice on how to tame our unruly ‘monkey minds’ by becoming more conscious of our behavior and attitude toward others.
Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, a well-known spiritual figure and the subject of the book, A Cave in the Snow, by Vicki Mackenzie, is uniquely placed to offer this teaching with her clear, engaging and witty style.
See dgli.org for more information on Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo and her work as the founder of Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery in India and champion for the rights of women to attain spiritual enlightenment.
