Embodying Your Heroic Self: Role-Modeling Imagery and Deep Transformation – Joe Loizzo, M.D., Ph.D. | 7-9PM

Sep

7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

This fifth course in Nalanda Institute’s Sustainable Happiness Program introduces the art of role-modeling in the Nalanda tradition: the fast track to embodying our innate genius for altruistic engagement with all life and the earth we share. By binding blissful openness to heroic imagery and affirmation, safe in the crucible of a close mentoring bond, this potent art sparks the healing alchemy we need to transform our traumatic self and world into a heroic self and world. We begin by locating this art within the gradual path to sustainable happiness, reviewing the basic horizons of self-healing, compassion and radical openness that are assumed as vital prerequisites for its safe and optimal use. We then explore the distinctive logic and powerful method of this art, both in terms of Buddhist depth psychology and in terms of modern neuropsychology. Our practice together will introduce participants to the seven steps and four phases of mentor-bonding, based on the traditional Indo-Tibetan practice of the Healing Mentor (Bhaishajya-guru); and the Healing Mother (Arya-Tara).

6 Mondays, 7-9pm; September 9, 16, 23, 30, October 7 & 14, 2019
