Mindfulness meditation can be defined as learning to bring our attention to the present moment by focusing on our breath and simply seeing what arises without bias or judgement. When attention wanders, and we notice, we simply return our attention to the breath.

The benefit of this practice is that we become more synchronized in body and mind, and begin to relate to our world in a less distracted and more wakeful way. By returning our attention to the present, we can actually cut through accumulation of stress and anxiety and develop clarity, strength, and stability in our everyday lives.

Attendance at previous sessions is not required. Meditation floor mats & traditional western chairs are provided and no special clothing or equipment is necessary.

Michael Kammers is a lay practitioner in the lineage of Chogyam Trungpa who believes the path is the goal, the obstacle is the path and that society is our monastery.

A student of senior Buddhist teacher David Nichtern, he has been trained to transmit the foundational mindfulness practice Shamatha Vipashyana and has completed the 100 hour teacher training program at the Tibet House. While Michael is a beginner on the path he believes we are all on the field together and is enthusiastic in sharing the practice that he has found so beneficial, so it may benefit all sentient beings.
