Special guest for the Lee Harrington Program July 7:

Great news! The wonderful Lama Losang of Karma Thegsum Choling Center in Gainesville, Florida will be joining us on Wednesday July 7 to offer a short teaching on the benefits of Medicine Buddha mantra and will offer blessings to bring auspiciousness and merit to our practice.
Lama Losang (David Bole) is a fully ordained monk (Gelong) in the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. He completed a three-year retreat under the guidance of renowned Kagyu master Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche. He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology from the University of Florida. He continued his studies at the College of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture in Oxford, England, where he completed two post graduate degrees. He has studied healing arts, meditation, martial arts, Tai Chi, acupuncture, herbal medicine and Chi Gong in the U.S., England, China, Tibet, India and Japan. He is a licensed acupuncturist in Florida and serves as the resident teacher for the Gainesville Karma Thegsum Choling Center in Gainesville, Florida.

Join us for a fun, and uplifting series of where we will learn about and practice mantra (which roughly translates as “mind-training” in Tibetan) recitation – a simple but profound way of re-aligning your habitual thought patterns and awakening innate cellular vibrations that promote a natural healing state. Join vocalist and mantrayana practitioner Lee Mirabai Harrington for a series of intimate, fun, and powerfully healing virtual gatherings in which we will learn and sing healing mantras from the Tibetan Buddhist and Sowa Rigpa (medical) traditions. Chanting (and singing!) these mantras can harmonize the body, redirect habitual thought patterns, alleviate depression and anxiety, calm the nervous system, restore health, increase cognitive function, and provide protection against future disease and illness. Each session will focus on one (or more!) mantra, and we’ll go deep, learning how the combination of primordial sound, vibration, breath, visualization, and our own unique healing instruments—our voices—can help heal the self in body, speech and mind. Let us experience a state of profound relaxation and rejuvenation together!

Each 90-minute session will consist of approximately

  • 30 minutes of Introductory teaching
  • 40 minutes of mantra chanting practice & guided meditation
  • 20 minutes of Q&A and integration

Mantras (subject to change):

  • SESSION 1 – Medicine Buddha (120 minutes)
  • SESSION 2 – Vajrasattva mantra
  • SESSION 3 – Mantra to Purify the Five Elements
  • SESSION 4 – Om Mani Padme Hum
  • SESSION 5 – DAKA mantra
  • SESSION 6 – DAKINI mantra
