“This is what should be done by one who is skilled in goodness and who knows the path of peace.” – The Buddha, from the Metta Sutta

Metta is an attitude of unconditional kindness towards oneself and all of life. All beings always have this boundless quality of friendliness available within. Though it may not always be readily accessible and we may lose touch with it, we can always recover it.

Metta meditation practice is like yoga for the heart. We stretch the heart’s capacity to offer goodwill by creatively playing with whom we pay attention to and how we pay attention. Week by week, we’ll experiment with offering kind attention to ourselves, our benefactors, friends, people we don’t know, difficult people, and finally all of life.

Metta practice can relieve stress, neutralize and soothe the inner critic with self-compassion, improve relationships, dissolve feelings of loneliness, strengthen resiliency and enhance your overall ability to work, speak and live with ease.

Each 2-hour class includes talks, guided meditation practices, Q&A and group exercises. Students will be asked to maintain a daily Metta meditation practice at home. Classes will be recorded and available for students to stream.
